Meet Harvey Hamilton

Harvey is the owner of Maiden Contracting, founded 4 years ago and based in Indianapolis, Indiana. At 16, he started in the trades as a concrete laborer and then shifted to rough framing, roofing, finish carpentry, and metal work. At 35, he graduated with a Construction Engineering degree from Purdue University, but quickly realized his heart was indeed in the physical work of construction. Now at 43, he hopes to pass along as much knowledge and training while still working in the field.

Josey is an African American Welding Instructor with a passion for serving others. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Josey is actively working to make change in her community through teaching welding and positivity to her students, which includes a new event she started called “A Weekend of Welding” to help make the skilled trade accessible to all.

Meet Garrett Davis

Garrett is a carpenter and the owner of G.W. Woodworks LLC, which he started nearly 7 years ago. Based out of central Maine, his carpentry company builds new homes and renovates existing ones. Garrett still does all his own carpentry work while leading a talented team of subcontractors for various jobs. Garrett has also become a proud and vocal advocate for sobriety and community after dealing with his own alcohol and drug addictions. He now hosts weekly “Skilled & Sober” chats on Instagram Live so trades workers can share their own experiences and find the support they need to succeed in all aspects of life and work.

Meet Jamie Eddy

Jamie is a fifth-year apprentice electrician based in Pittsburgh. After initially pursuing a degree in nursing, Jamie discovered her heart was not in it, and she ended up failing out of nursing school. Once she was introduced to the trades world, she jumped right into learning everything she could. Now, Jamie is on her way to becoming a journeyman, and she shares that loves what she does, especially because there’s never a dull moment on the job. She has also made it her personal mission to get more women involved in the trades, all thanks to the woman who encouraged her to start her career as an electrician.

Mari is a proud American drywaller, hanger, and finisher. Based in Pennsylvania, Mari left her career as a computer engineer to learn the trade from her husband 5 years ago and joined his business as a partner. Together, the drywalling duo behind TK Drywall provides high-quality services in both the commercial and residential spaces. From renovations and remodels to drywall repairs, Mari loves taking on new projects and especially enjoys working on custom homes.

Meet Josh Ferguson

Josh is a 33-year-old renewable industry veteran by day and aspiring woodworker by night. He has always loved woodworking and building in general, but homeownership really fueled the fire behind taking woodworking to another level for him and his business. Josh resides in Northwestern Connecticut with his two boys and wife, and he documents his life, skills, and the behind-the-scenes of his Ferguson Woodcraft projects on his Instagram.
